Family
History
In the early to mid
1800's there were WRIGG families in and around Manchester, Preston, Macclesfield and
Ashton under Lyne. Some of them worked in the cotton mills, some were civil engineers,
some stayed put in Lancashire, others moved as far as Canada and New Zealand.
One thing they had in common, they spelt their name
"WRIGG, - with a W"
Unfortunately, over the years, other people have spelt it
Wigg, Wragg, Wegg, Rigg, Wrigh
with assorted variations,
making searching for them that much more difficult.
The aim of this site is to share with others what we already know and to
hope they will share their knowledge with us and help to make this truly
the home of the
World Wide Wriggs
